The Mass Spectrometry Facility (MSF) exists to provide top-quality mass
spectrometry support to the faculty research groups of the
Indiana
University-Bloomington Chemistry Department. The MSF is one of
many Technical Support
Facilities in the Chemistry Department; its faculty advisor is
Dr. David Clemmer. The laboratory is located in rooms A411 between Electronics Instrument Services and the
Indiana University Molecular
Structure Center and A702 in the Chemistry Building.
The facility is open Monday - Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. except for University staff holidays. Announcements:Two new (to us) LCT ESI-TOF mass spectrometers have been installed. These offer improved resolution and mass accuracy over the old API III. Check out the instrumentation page for a complete description. Training is currently available for these new instruments; check with Jon or Angie. The Introduction to Organic Mass Spectrometry lectures given in Dr. Zach Aron's Organic Spectroscopy class are available here.ALL SAMPLES MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH BOTH PAPER AND ONLINE FORMS.Capabilities:
Staff:Jonathan A. Karty, Ph.D. Angela M. Hansen Undergraduate Technicians: Will Barker Training:If you would like to be trained to record your own mass spectra on the LCT (ESI), API III (ESI), the Bruker Biflex (MALDI), or the Agilent 6890/5973 (GC-MS) contact either Jonathan Karty or Angela Hansen to set up an appointment. |
